Island Company 10-Year Anniversary
Resort apparel and lifestyle brand Island Company celebrates its 10th year as a resort lifestyle brand with the opening of a new flagship location at 256 Worth Avenue, Palm Beach. The 2,300 sq ft space had previously been a landmark store occupied by Gucci since 1974. Island Company moves from its first retail location, a 450 sq ft Worth Avenue presence the brand has long since outgrown. The fashion firm, known for its men's and women's travel apparel, swimwear, linen collections, eyewear, accessories and sun care for the intrepid world traveler is rapidly expanding worldwide. “We'd been looking to expand our store for some time now. When the Gucci location became available, there was no question that this was for us. It's the centerpiece of one of the most important retail corridors on the East Coast and in our hometown,” said Island Company's Founder and Creative Director, Spencer Antle.
The décor of the store is an exotic and upscale mix of Indonesian, Caribbean, Thai and Mediterranean themes all rolled into one. The authentic island lifestyle is a core component of Island Company, and one that Antle is not willing to compromise. “I wanted this store to feel like an escapist ride and the clothes you take home at the end are mementos of the experience that can only be had at Island Company.” The expansion is expected to continue as two new stores planned for Hawaii and Las Vegas are slated to open in 2013.
“It's surreal to look back and remember that Island Company started with 13 bikinis that I came up with overnight. The journey has been a lot of fun, but I'm only getting started...” says Antle.
Island Company's 10-year anniversary event takes place Friday, December 7th with 750 VIP guests attending a Palm Beach party, behind and within the new Island Company flagship store. Reggae legend Gramps Morgan will be performing and the event is co-sponsored by Wilhelmina Models and Mount Gay Rum.
